PICCC student receives Chinese Government award

Rui Liu, a former PICCC research student who recently completed her PhD, has received the prestigious China Scholarship Council’s Outstanding Postgraduate Reward. A total of 500 are rewarded worldwide, from 400,000 eligible students. This is not only great recognition, but also grants a useful $6000 prize.

Rui undertook her studies with the PICCC nitrous oxide program, investigating the effect of soil type and environmental variables on nitrous oxide leakage from nitrification in soils. She was supervised by Deli Chen (UM), Helen Hayden (DEDJTR) and Helen Suter (UM), and received an operating grant from the PICCC Postgraduate Scholarship scheme to support her studies.
